Eric L. Hubbard is currently an assistant professor of Business and Leadership at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC). Before coming to SMWC, Eric taught aviation and advanced manufacturing courses at Ivy Tech Community College. He holds a doctorate in I/O Psychology from NU/NCU, holds a Master of Leadership Development degree from SMWC, and a B.S. in Pro. Aeronautics with a Business Minor from ERAU.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, for nearly 32 years, Hubbard’s professional career led him to serve in various technical, training and leadership roles at Textron Aviation Company, leaving the industry in 2022 to follow his passion for teaching, full-time. As part of these previous roles, Eric performed root cause/corrective action (RCCA) investigations for aircraft maintenance-related errors, focusing on human factors. Eric also developed and implemented a behavioral risk audit tool that successfully reversed a negative trend in injuries and aircraft damage across the Textron network, resulting in being awarded the Tracy Robinson Award for Quality in 2016. Eric is also a former small business start-up owner as well as founder of a not-for-profit organization.

Eric’s various psychological research interests include human factors, subjective well-being, happiness, self-efficacy, emerging leadership, as well as ethics and morality studies. He serves as Ethicist and Lead Researcher for the PARC Project, an initiative researching the impact that Parkinson’s Disease has on one’s faith and belief. Eric has also participated in archaeological digs with the U.S. Forest Service’s PIT and University of Notre Dame. In addition to archeology, Eric’s interests include astronomy, permaculture and plants, as well as spending quality time with his wife and grandchildren.
